On 6 March 2015, Stellar Foundation initiated the first phase of our Sustainable Energy Project by issuing our first Stellar Multi-estate farmworkers with solar powered lights. We were honoured to have our clients from Coenecoop in the Netherlands with us for this event.
We will be monitoring the use and efficiency of this product before this project is extended to all of the workers within Stellar Multi-estate.
The aim of the Sustainable Energy Project is to combat loadshedding problems as well as to relief some expenses on electricity for our workers, funds that could be otherwise applied to better their livelihood.
Other ways of cutting down electricity usage would include solar geysers and more energy efficient cooking methods.
The feedback we received on 24 March 2015 is that the workers are very excited about their lights and that they already experience it as a huge positive.
